In December 2014, 1A decided to welcome the New Year by launching a campaign that would celebrate a number of firsts for Armenia. ArmTab, Armenia’s first tablet factory, started producing customized Android tablets and helped put Armenia on the map as a location that local and foreign companies can go to for domain-specific tablet technology.
We crowdfunded to sponsor the factory’s first batch of made-in-Armenia tablets. We then distributed the tablets, with Armenian language resources and educational apps installed, to underprivileged teenagers at the Orran Center in Yerevan. The tablets supplement the children's education, encourage them to explore the world of IT and reinforce the idea that Armenia is a place of innovation, where one can live, work and be successful.
